In July 2016, Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello traveled
to Vancouver, Canada, with two of his PhD students
(Luis Miguel Antonio and Edgar Manoatl Lopez) to
attend the 2016 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary
Computation (CEC'2016), which was part of the
2016 IEEE World Congress on Computational
Intelligence (WCCI'2016).
Although Dr. Coello was very busy before and during
the conference, he had a chance to enjoy of the
beautiful city of Vancouver (several photos are
shown below), including a cruise with fireworks at
the end and a VIP dinner at the Aquarium. He also
had the opportunity to meet with several good friends,
including José Antonio Lozano, Oscar Cordón,
Pablo Estevez and others. Additionally, he had the chance
to see again (after 20 years) to Prof. Frederick
Petry (who was a faculty member at the Department of
Computer Science at Tulane University when Dr. Coello
was a graduate student there) who received a well-deserved
pioneer award from the IEEE Computational Society
for some of his research work on fuzzy logic.
