In June 2013, Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello had the honor of serving as General Chair of the 2013 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC'2013), which took place in Cancún, México. Evidently, Dr. Coello was very busy with all the logistics of the conference, and had little time to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Cancún. However, he could relax during the Awards banquet, in which the attendants could enjoy of a prehispanic ceremony and of some mexican music and food. During this ceremony, Dr. Coello received the 2013 IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Award and the 2013 IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Transactions on Evolutionary Computation Paper Award, which he shared with Dr. Adriana Lara, Dr. Oliver Schütze and Dr. Gustavo Sánchez.
