In December 2012, Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello traveled to
Japan to attend the 2012 Evolutionary Computation Symposium,
where he acted as a keynote speaker. This conference
was organized by The Japanese Society for Evolutionary Computation, and took place in Karuizawa, Japan.
Dr. Coello's visit was also partially sponsored by the
Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA),
for which he is acting as external consultant. Therefore,
during this trip he also visited JAXA in Sagamihara (in Tokyo's
metropolotian area).
Dr. Coello had a great time during this trip to Japan,
and had the opportunity to talk to some good friends, such
as Dr. Hernan Aguirre, as well as with a former PhD student
of his (Dr. Antonio López Jaimes, who is now a
postdoctoral fellow at JAXA). Below, there are pictures from
both, Karuizawa and JAXA.
