EMO 2005, Guanajuato, México, March 2005.

During March 9 to 11th, Guanajuato held the Third International Conference on Evolutionary Multi-Criterion Optimization (EMO'05) in the Real de Minas Hotel. EMO'05 was co-chaired by Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello, Dr. Arturo Hernández Aguirre and Prof. Eckart Zitzler. The conference had over 100 attendants from 19 different countries.

The conference had 3 tutorials. The first tutorial speaker was Prof. Gary B. Lamont, who provided an introduction to multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The second tutorial speaker was Dr. Joshua D. Knowles, who talked about performance assessment methods used with multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The third tutorial speaker was Prof. Xavier Gandibleux who talked about multi-objective metaheuristics used for combinatorial optimization.

There were also two keynote speeches. The first keynote speaker was Prof. Milan Zeleny, who talked about "De Novo Programming". The second keynote speaker was Prof. Peter Fleming who talked about the use of multi-objective evolutionary algorithms in design.

Some of the highlights of the conference were the "Callejoneada" (with simultaneous translation by some of the conference attendants) and the banquet. During the banquet, there was a "mariachi" which interpreted several traditional mexican songs. There was also a dancing group that interpreted dances from different parts of Mexico. Below, you can see pictures of all of this. There are also pictures of many of the paper presenters and from the posters session. Hopefully, the attendants of EMO'05 had a good time in Mexico!.
