In July 2009, Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello attended the 2009 Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO'2009), which took place in Montreal, Canada.

Below, you can see several pictures of this beautiful canadian city. The Montreal Jazz Festival was in course when GECCO'2009 started, which was a strong attractor for many people who took the opportunity to attend such festival during the evening.

One of the highlights of the conference was that Dr. Arturo Hernández Aguirre (a very good friend of Dr. Coello) received the best paper award in the track on Estimation of Distribution Algorithms.
