On November 27th, 2008, Luis Vicente Santana Quintero successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "Development of techniques to improve computational efficiency in multi-objective evolutionary algorithms".

The PhD jury consisted of: Dr. Alfredo García Hernández Díaz (from the University Pablo de Olavide, in Spain), Dr. Edgar Emmanuel Vallejo Clemente (from ITESM Edo. de Mexico), Dr. Luis Gerardo de la Fraga (from CINVESTAV-IPN), Dr. Debrup Chakraborty (from CINVESTAV-IPN), and Dr. Carlos A. Coello Coello (Luis' advisor).

Several of Luis' old friends attended the defense, as can be seen in the pictures below. After the defense, there was a meal for all the attendants, although no pictures were left of that event.
